Where are the women in LSPs?
Report Launch - Free Event - 10th September 2007 London

The Report presents the findings of research carried out by Urban
Forum, Oxfam UK and the Women's Resource Centre on women's
representation in Local Strategic Partnerships. This research was
carried out to coincide with the introduction of the Gender Equality
Duty that came into force in April 2007.

Some of the key findings showed that:
* Women only occupy 28% of Board Chairs, roughly equivalent to the
percentage of women councillors.
* On LSPs women tend to occupy gender stereotype roles, such as
administrators and community representatives.
* 80% of LSPs are not monitoring women's representation.
* 72% of LSPs say they offer no specific support to women to encourage
and enable participation.
* No LSPs demonstrated awareness that issues affect men and women
differently, such as economic development or transport.

Where are the women in LSPs? will be launched at a FREE event on 10th
September 2007 from 12.30-4pm at the Royal Bank of Scotland, 1 Princes
Street, London EC2R 8PB. Lunch will be provided at the start.
