Intensive Course In Wall And Floor Tiling for Women

Monday 13th August - Friday 17th August 2007

This course is being run in The Women Construction Centre in
Sheffield. This centre offers courses to women in non traditional
trades in a well equipped training centre and with opportunity to work
on a building site where all the skill areas will be practiced

About This Course

This is an invaluable course for those women who are interested in
learning a trade or who are already trades-women and want to become
multi skilled.

Practical and theoretical skills taught and practised during the week
will include:
* Introduction to hand tools and electrical cutting tools, different
tiles, adhesives grouts and their uses in the building trade
* Setting out tiling jobs on floors and walls
* Wall tiling
* Ceramic floor tiling

* Floor and wall tile trim and different applications of trim
* Levelling of floors for effective floor tiling

Tutoring will be from 9.30am to 3.30pm with 30 minutes for lunch

The Women's Construction Centre will provide all materials and course
notes

Cost: £300

The tutor is Katherine Jones a qualified floor and wall tiler who has
been employed by a major construction company working on house
refurbishment and now works as a self employed tiler. She teaches
regularly at the Women's Construction Centre on evening and weekend
classes and also has a keen interest in the application of tiles for
murals and artistic work

If you are an unemployed lone parent, live in Rotherham, Barnsley or
certain areas of Sheffield or are under 25 years of age you may be
eligible for a bursary and child care costs. Please contact us for
