Capita's 5th National Safeguarding Children Conference

Friday 23rd November 2007 at the Radisson SAS Portman Hotel, 22
Portman Square, London W1H 7BG

Aims & Objectives

This is a vital time to reflect on progress following the Bichard
Inquiry, to review child protection procedures after the passage of
the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act in 2006 and prepare for
introduction of the new vetting and barring scheme from autumn 2008.

Capita's Safeguarding Children Conferences have been an established
six-monthly forum since the publication of the Bichard Inquiry in
2004, forming a crucial part of the child protection agenda. Building
on three years of learning, we bring together the critical
decision-makers and stakeholders in the field, including Sir Michael
Bichard, to provide the full national and local picture on
safeguarding children.

This important and timely event covers both policy and good practice,
providing you with the key information and insights you need to
implement fully effective safeguarding procedures.

Morning plenary sessions highlight the key strategic developments in
Vetting and Barring, LSCBs and implementation of the ISA scheme. The
afternoon stream sessions focus on more in-depth areas. Take the
opportunity to engage with stakeholders across the sector to find out
more about the specific issues important to your role and
organisation - be it in education, the police, local government or the
voluntary, community or private sector. This is a must-attend event for
all who work with, teach or care for children and young people in any
