Tackling Prostitution Conference - Developing a Local, Multi-agency
Approach
Tuesday 11th December 2007 - Central London
Prostitution is one of the largest - and most invisible - industry
sectors in the UK. It generates between £700 million to £1bn per year.
But its 80,000 workers - and the communities in which they operate -
are vulnerable.
This is a complex issue that is dealt with by multiple agencies; the
police, health services, voluntary and local organisations, who all
come together through Local Strategic Partnerships and Crime and
Disorder Reduction Partnerships to develop local strategies to reduce
the impact of prostitution on the sex-workers themselves and their
communities.
Set against the backdrop of the ongoing debate over how best to
protect sex workers, this conference aims to examine through practical
case studies, presentations and an in-depth panel discussion how to
work effectively in partnership to implement successful approaches to
prevention, demand and routes out.
Attend this conference to engage with colleagues across a range of
services and discover how local partnerships can deliver successful
strategies in your area.
