Working for Equality

An information and networking event for organisations supporting
equality community groups

29 October 2007, 9.30am - 2pm, London

Speaker: Simon Hebditch, Capacitybuilders

This is a time of change for agencies supporting equality voluntary
and community organisations~ (VCOs). This free event will inform and
consult on a number of significant new developments which will impact
on your work including:
* the Commission on Integration and Cohesion's proposals to cut
funding for 'single groups' (e.g. Black, Asian and minority ethnic
organisations and other organisations supporting specific equality
communities)
* the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), which opened its
doors on 1 October 2007
* Capacitybuilders' Improving Reach 2 Fund
* the needs of equality VCOs, to inform the future development of
their support services, ChangeUp~~ in London, funders and others.

You will also have the unique opportunity to take part in workshops
with and learn from organisations supporting different equality VCOs.

This event is for you if you are London-based and from:
* an organisation that specialises in supporting equality VCOs;
* a mainstream organisation such as a CVS;
* the public sector;
* a funding agency.
Other interested organisations and individuals are also welcome.

This event will be delivered by the Equality and Human Rights (EHR)
Sub-group and Capacitybuilders. The Equality and Human Rights
Sub-group is part of the ChangeUp London Regional Consortium.
Capacitybuilders works with the voluntary and community sector (VCS)
to improve support services for VCOs.

~ Equality VCOs are frontline organisations working directly with
communities and people who experience discrimination because they are
disabled or because of their age, faith, gender, race,
refugee/migration status or sexual orientation.

~~ ChangeUp is a Government programme of investment and support for
the VCS.
