One day course 24th September - Working with unaccompanied children

One day course - 24 September
`An introduction to working with  unaccompanied children'

Dear Colleague,

We are now booking places for the above course.  The course will give
you practical knowledge of the stages of the asylum process for an
unaccompanied child, enabling adults working within the asylum process
to better support the child through the process.

The course is suitable for those new to the sector, or for people
looking to refresh their knowledge of the process, or to fill in gaps
in
knowledge and understanding of the process.

What does the course cover?
· Who unaccompanied children are
· Asylum determination, lodging an application and the New Asylum
Model
· The roles of different adults in the system
· The legal and policy framework for support and care, including the
Children Act
· The impact of the asylum process on care planning

Who should attend?

Local authority staff, particularly children's services, voluntary
sector staff working with children, legal professionals, specialist
teachers, youth workers and anyone involved in providing services to
refugee and asylum seeking children.
