Grants available for local inter faith activity - Round 1 apply by 1st
Novmeber
Faiths in Action is a £4m grants programme open from 1 August 2008 to
faith, inter faith, voluntary and community organisations and groups
in England.
Administered by the Community Development Foundation (CDF) on behalf
of Communities and Local Government (CLG), Faiths in Action aims to
bring communities together, promoting positive relationships and
collaborative social action between people of different religions and
beliefs.
Grants will be distributed in two rounds. Round one, which opened 1
August 2008 will issue grants of up to £12,000 to be spent over two
years. It is hoped the grants will support a wide variety of local
activities in a range of community settings, including innovative new
ideas as well as 'tried and tested' approaches.
The programme highlights the importance of acting in partnership to
improve local communities, encouraging interaction and exchange of
ideas. Funding activities which boost skills, confidence and greater
understanding of one another will put people in a stronger position to
make positive, lasting changes.
The programme has been designed to be one of investment and support,
not only giving groups and organisations financial assistance through
grants, but also providing some advice and guidance.
Alison Seabrooke, CDF Chief Executive said: "CDF are delighted to be
administering Faiths in Action on behalf of Communities and Local
Government. Taking steps to build knowledge, skills and resources
within local communities, as well as understanding between
communities, is vital if we are to see long-lasting, positive change."
