CHANGEit nominations for 2008/09

CHANGEit recognises, supports and rewards campaigners aged 11-18 from
across the UK.

Innovation awards are for young people who want to make positive
change happen, but need support to get started. They are for young
people who have a campaign idea or plan for creating change, but need
help getting their idea off the ground.

The winners will receive a prize of £750 to directly benefit their
campaign; they will also be offered a mentor to help them in their
journey to achieving their campaign's goals. Six runners-up will
receive £250 for their campaign.

If you are chosen as a finalist, you will present your idea to a panel
of judges in a "dragon's den" style pitch. Three campaigns will be
selected as winners and announced at the award ceremony. Throughout
the year following, CHANGEit will keep track of their work and offer
support for their campaigning process.

Innovation Training - Eight short-listed finalists will be invited to
a training event in London to shape a plan to take their idea or
project forward. Training will cover campaign planning, team-working,
presentations and media skills. Finalists will also be given a blog to
help keep track of campaign progress and kick-start their campaign
promotion.

Performance awards are for young people who have spoken up and taken
action on the issues they care about. They will be awarded to young
people who have already produced change in their school, youth group
or community and deserve to be recognised for their campaigning
achievements.

Finalists in the Performance category will be contacted by a member of
the CHANGEit Award team who will arrange a meeting to learn more about
the campaign. Finalists will be expected to send through materials for
a film to be shown at the ceremony. Winners will be selected by a
panel of judges and announced at the award ceremony in London.

Prizes will be awarded to young people who have produced positive
change. All nominations for the Performance awards will receive a cert
ificate of recognition and the three winners will receive £750 each.
Six runners-up will be awarded £250.

Photo Contest CHANGEit is looking for images of campaigning in action
that is
helped or created by young people.

Are you a campaigner? Are you part of a campaign? Have you noticed a
positive change in your school, club, community or more widely? Do you
just have an eye for photography but need a subject? Send us your
pictures!

Twelve short-listed images will be selected to be displayed in a
CHANGEit photo exhibition to be held in various locations in central
London. Of the twelve finalists, two will be selected to receive £250
in cash prizes to be awarded at the CHANGEit ceremony in central
London.

All images will also have the honor of being the face of the next
CHANGEit awards and displayed online and in CHANGEit marketing
materials (images will be credited to the photographers in all cases).

The photographer must be between the ages of 11-18 as of 1 October
2008 and live in the United Kingdom. It doesn't need to be your own
camera, but it does need to be your own work!

As of 1 October 2008, nominations are open for the 2008/09 CHANGEit
awards in the Innovation, Performance and Photo contest categories.
The closing date for nominations is 12 January 2009 so send in your
nominations today!
