Train the Trainer Opportunity for Young people

the nia project and The Children's Society are working in partnership
to offer young people the opportunity to train as trainers, and the
possibility of co-delivering training to professionals across London
around the issue of sexual exploitation. We feel it is very important
that young people play a part in advising adult professionals about
how best to work with and support young people who are at risk.

We are looking for young people aged 16 - 21 who want to take part in
a 10 session programme where they will develop skills and practical
tools to deliver training to adult professionals such as the police,
teachers, social workers and youth workers. We envisage the programme
to be delivered in a block of 4 full days towards the end of August/
beginning of September, with 2 follow up sessions.

We want to recruit young people with an interest in their own personal
development, excellent communication skills and those who want to
challenge themselves in a new setting with new people.

The young people who sign up for the 10 session programme will be able
to gain a Youth Achievement Award, and once trained as trainers will
be qualified to co-facilitate training with adult professionals from
the nia project and The Children's Society if they should chose to do
this.

If young people do not want to gain the Youth Achievement Award, they
can still enrol on the programme. All participants will gain:

§ A certificate of achievement from the nia project and The Children's
Society
§ The opportunity to work in a professional setting and develop skills
that can be used in many settings, including future employment
§ £10 high street voucher for every session attended (maximum £100
worth of vouchers awarded at the end of the programme)
§ A Gold level Youth Achievement Award (should they chose to gain the
qualification)

We will be holding an induction day for all young people interested in
the programme on:

Date: 23rd July 2008
Venue: The Children's Society, 91 - 93 Queen's Road, Peck ham, SE15
2EZ
Time: 10 am - 3 pm

Breakfast and lunch will be provided on the day.

We will discuss the project with you, talk about dates and options for
accreditation and also start discussing what will happen on the
course. By the end of the day we hope you will hope have the
information you need to make a decision as to whether you would like
to be involved on the course.

This is to provide the opportunity for young people to find out more
about the programme and whether it is something they would like to be
involved in. Attending the induction day does not mean they have to be
involved in the programme; however those who do 'sign up' will only be
qualified to co-deliver training and receive their certificate if they
attend all 10 sessions.

If you or any young people that you are working with would like any
further information please contact either:
