Children, Young People and Families Grant Programme - England

The Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) Grant is a national
programme to fund work by the third sector to improve outcomes for
children, young people and families. The outcomes expected from this
funded work are embedded in the Children Act 2004, the Every Child
Matters outcomes and the Children's Plan.

The new grant round for funding from April 2009 was launched in August
2008, and applications are now invited from long-standing partner
organisations as well as from new organisations.

They value the work of all the third sector organisations in the
country who deliver excellent services for children, young people and
their families, and the many thousands of volunteers who also give
their time and energy to help others.

There are a few changes to this year's programme. All innovation
(formerly project) grants will be payable over 2 financial years, that
is from April 2009 - March 2011. This will allow for more flexible
start dates, payment over a more realistic timescale, and time to
evaluate the success of your work.

For this grant round only, strategic grants of 2 years duration, again
from 2009 - 2011, are also being made. Subject to the next spending
review, this means that for the 2011 grant programme, all our
strategic partner organisations will be able to bid for 3-year funding
in a single round. They will then work with them to deliver the
overall aims and objectives of the Department over the full funding
round from 2011 - 2014.

They will contact direct the 20 organisations who are in the second
year of their current 3 year strategic grant (due to end 2010).

The deadline for receipt of completed applications is midday 31
October 2008. The results of the grant programme will be announced on,
or shortly after, 15 December 2008.

To help your chance of success in the grant process, please complete
the Eligibility Questionnaire, available on websites below. You are
only eligible for a CYPF grant if you can answer yes to all applicable
questions. The Grant Application Guide document will help you complete
this grid. The top tips on tendering from the Futurebuilders Website:
http://www.futurebuilders-england.org.uk/content/Resources/Toptips/article_36_1488.aspx
apply equally to grants and are worth reading.

If you belong to a member organisation such as NAVCA, NCB, NCVCCO or
NCVYS they may be able to give you some guidance to help you decide
whether you should apply, although they are unable to comment on
individual applications.

CYPF Grant 2009 Forms downloadable from websites below contains all
the documents you need to make an application to the CYPF Programme:
the Eligibility Questionnaire, the Grant Application guide, the
Application form, and the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Please note that even though you may be eligible, there is no
guarantee you will be awarded a grant. DCSF receives many more bids
than it has the resources to fund in each grant round; each award is
based on the merit of the bid and its closeness to DCSF's policy
priorities set within a competitive bidding environment.

Read the press notice on the DCSF Website:

which organisations were successful in the CYPF 2008-9 programme, and
the amounts awarded.
