The 2nd Annual DSC Social Change Awards - nominations close 17 Oct.
We're celebrating the passionate individuals and effective
organisations committed to making a positive impact on society with
our 2008 Social Change Awards.
This change can come about through the everyday actions of one
individual, many people pulling together, a local company that cares
about their wider community or the thoughtful investment of resources.
The awards are fun, informal and inclusive.
We need your nominations now!
We invite you to nominate yourselves, your organisation or others. You
don't have to be a charity to enter. Individuals, community groups,

What are the Awards categories?
Whether you are an individual, a company or a public body, if you're
passionate about social change then there's a category to recognise
your efforts. There are four Awards:
* Everyday Impact Award
We all have a story about someone who gets off their backside and
achieves something positive for the cause they care about. These are
the people or organisations that have a clear vision for change. They
engage and involve others to bring about real and concrete results
that can be seen and felt on a daily basis. An everyday impact could
be made by a person who devises a recreation scheme for communities
around the country to engage young people in football.
* Influencer Award
This award is for the individual or organisation that really knows
which buttons to press to make things happen. This could be an
organisation that has campaigned for a change in law or an individual
who has encouraged several distinct groups to work together and
achieve what might have seemed impossible. We want to acknowledge the
determination and hard work required to communicate clearly, put forth
a persuasive argument and win people over to bring about positive
change.
* Investing in Social Change Award
The winner of this category could be a not-for-profit organisation, a
commercial company, or an individual donor. They will have really
thought hard about how the best way for them to invest time, skills or
money to achieve social change. By assessing the need, bringing others
on board and making effective use of their resources, they turn
rhetoric into reality, and achieve a real difference.
* Public Body Award
This is for the public body that has worked most effectively with the
community to achieve shared social change objectives. It could be
awarded to a parish council, a local authority, a municipal leisure
centre or a central government department. The award will recognise
the challenges these organisations have overcome using their
resources, including their influence and their intelligence, to
improve the quality of peoples' lives and help people work together
for the benefit of the community.
