Survey to find what skills etc Trustees have gained through their work
Charity Trustee Networks to combat 'negative perceptions' of
governance as potential recruits may be put off by myths
Charity Trustee Networks http://www.trusteenet.org.uk/, the national
organisation for trustees, has launched a questionnaire to combat
negative perceptions about becoming a charity trustee
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=vqLPZvodLrQtWok6mj7TsQ_3d_3d .
The organisation wants to gather evidence emphasising the positive
aspects of trusteeship because it is concerned that negative
perceptions are affecting the ability of charities to recruit good
trustees.
Rodney Buse, chair of CTN, said: "It may be that many potential
trustees are being put off before they've even started by talk about
liabilities, losing their houses, red tape and regulations."
He said CTN wanted to address the imbalance but needed more evidence
from trustees about their experiences on charity boards.
"We are convinced that being a trustee is, for most people, a very
positive experience, and that focusing on the good aspects of it would
encourage more people from all walks of life to become trustees," he
said.
