V4CE is seeking the views of BME Third Sector organisations to inform
its response to the CLG consultation Tackling race inequalities. There

London's LEAP employment service is facing closure due to a lack of
public funding and the Black Training & Enterprise Group

has called for the Mayor of London and the Government to intervene to
ensure that BME communities continue to receive vital help in tackling
unemployment during the recession. LEAP has established a petition

the call for continued funding.
The first issue of the BME Voice newspaper http://www.bme.org.uk/news
has been launched by the BME VCS Regional Panel for Yorkshire and the
Humber. The newspaper aims to provide a platform for the Yorkshire and
Humber BME Voluntary and Community Sector to showcase the wonderful
work it does, and also a platform for regional & local organisations
to communicate with the sector.
The Confederation of Indian Organisations http://www.cio.org.uk/, in
partnership with the Stroke Association, will be launching a new
initiative to increase awareness about 'Stroke' amongst the Asian
communities in the Midlands on 24th April 2009 at 10am at the Peepul
Centre, Leicester. The guests include Professor Tom Robinson who is
the Professor of Stroke Medicine at the University Hospitals of
Leicester NHS Trust, the former Secretary of State the Rt Hon Patricia
Hewitt MP and Cllr Manjula Sood, the first Asian woman Lord Mayor of

The Institute of Fundraising is offering free places at its Fight the
Recession with Gift Aid conference to any organisation with an annual
income of less than £100,000. The conference looks at how to make

is organising the UK's first conference on Domestic Violence in Gypsy
and Traveller Communities on 8th May 2009, in London. Speakers from
Gypsy and Traveller domestic violence projects and Women's Aid will
share their insights and experiences on a difficult topic for
communities which have traditionally relied on family to solve
problems. FFT will launch a revised guide to 'Supporting Gypsy and
Traveller women and Children living with Domestic Violence' together
with a set of case studies illustrating real experiences. Further

Community Development Exchange http://www.cdx.org.uk/ is organising a
series of regional events to bring together practitioners across all
sectors to discuss the key challenges of current policy agendas and
explore practical solutions. The venues include Nottingham,

The Transition to Adulthood (T2A) Alliance is organising a policy
panel on the issues faced by young Black and Minority Ethnic (BME)
offenders in the criminal justice system. It takes place on 18th May

The Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Women Councillors Taskforce
regional event for London is now taking place on 21st May 2009 at
Southwark Town Hall. Register online

How do we change the history of deprivation and revive our
communities? 4NW's Social, Economic and Environmental Partners (SEEP)
are holding a 'Deprivation in Communities' symposium to forge a
consensus on the need to tackle deprivation within our poorest
communities by focussing the region on the problem. The Symposium will
directly inform 4NW's approach while drafting RS2010 (the Single
Regional Strategy) and produce a platform for policy interventions in
the future. It is taking place on 9th June 2009 at Preston's

The National Housing Federation's Annual Conference and Social Housing
