European Integration Fund - apply by 6th March 2009

Funding area: UK wide
Next Application Deadline: 06/03/2009

The European Integration Fund (EIF) aims to assist organisations in
setting up projects to support economic, social, cultural and
political integration of third-country nationals and encourage the
fulfilment of the conditions for permanent residence in the UK. The
fund is administered in the UK by the Home Office's UK Border Agency.

Approximately £5 million is available for projects lasting up to three
years.

The European Integration Fund is an expansion of the 2000 European
Refugee Fund and its objective is to support the efforts made by the
European Member States in enabling third country nationals of
different economic, social, cultural, religious, linguistic and ethnic
backgrounds to fulfil the conditions of residence and to facilitate
their integration into European society.

The Fund aims to contribute to six main policy objectives:
* facilitation of the development and implementation of admission
procedures relevant to and supportive of the integration process of
third-country nationals;
* development and implementation of the integration process of
newly-arrived third-country nationals in Member States;
* increasing of the capacity of Member States to develop, implement,
monitor and evaluate policies and measures for the integration of
third-country nationals;
* exchange of information, best practices and cooperation in and
between Member States in developing, implementing, monitoring and
evaluating policies and measures for the integration of third-country
nationals.

Proposals are invited from innovative projects that support the
efforts made by the UK in enabling third country nationals of
different social, cultural, religious, linguistic and ethnic
backgrounds to fulfil the conditions for permanent residence in the UK
and to facilitate their integration into UK society.

Proposals are also invited from Local Authorities Adult, Further
Education and Community Colleges wishing to offer, or expand capacity
for, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses that are
intended to help legal migrants to become fully functional in UK
society.
