The Community Development Network London invites you to a FREE
networking event on:

Power in Local Communities
Sharing, Growing and Knowing
The role of community development

Learn about strategies that work from local activists
Hear about human rights in community development
Contribute your local intelligence to CDNL
Enjoy the company of, and share practice with, other community
development workers

Who should attend?
This event is for community development workers and practitioners
(volunteer or unpaid) from all sectors working with communities in
London. Managers, policy workers and academics are also welcome.

Speakers
Sonia Omar of the British Institute for Human Rights will introduce
the importance of making human rights real for people and communities.
CAIS Maloka and the International School of Bottom-Up Organising
(ISBO) Collective will share experiences and examples of their work in
this country and across the world.
Stephanie Johnson of Yummy Mummy Cafe will tell the story of a group
of new mothers trying to find a culturally appropriate space in
Croydon.

Format
The event will start with interactive networking over lunch, followed
by speakers with audio-visuals, then audience debate and group
discussions.

This event is organised by the Community Development Network London
(CDNL) with support from the London Empowerment Partnership (LEP) as
part of its commitment to community development practitioners as
champions of community empowerment.

About CDNL
The Community Development Network London (CDNL) is organised by a
group of community development workers working together to try to
encourage a collective voice for community development in London. It
started in June 2007 and aims to: provide networking and informal peer
support opportunities; policy dissemination and critical discussion;
develop a campaigning capability to raise the profile of CD and to
ensure accountability for representatives.
