Nominet

Nominet has created a Trust to support distinctive and inventive
Internet-related projects that can make a difference to people, primarily in the
areas of education, online safety and inclusion.

The Trust aims to make the Internet a better place and make a difference to
people that need and use the Internet. If you have a project that you think
may be relevant we would welcome your application.

Any organisation can apply - as long as our criteria for funding are met.
Applications must meet one or more of the Trust's objectives and should
generally be for:
· a clearly identified need - not to reduce risk in a well-endowed organisation;
· a one-off grant for seed or early-stage funding;
· fully worked up applications rather than just expressions of interest.

They will consider projects which:
· are a new initiative or a distinctive extension of an existing project;
· are original and innovative - or provide a fresh and different approach to an
existing project;
· have a wide reach or demonstrable potential in the long term;
· make a significant difference to the users;
· be capable of delivering what is promised - with risk and mitigation assessed;
· have the Internet at the core.

The Trust aims to fund initiatives that:
· Increase education in the subject of the Internet and information technology
particularly in deprived areas.
· Relieve the social, health, and educational needs of disabled, sick and frail
elderly people.
· Support research into innovations that may relieve such needs by conducting
and commissioning research, applying such research, and by the publication of
effective results.
· Advance the education of young people in the United Kingdom to support
education institutions offering a strong emphasis on technology and its
practical applications.
· Promote the protection of children and other vulnerable people from danger,
suffering, or being abused through the use of the Internet.
· Provide and support services that will protect people and property from
criminal activities on the Internet and to assist in the development of
technology to prevent and detect criminal activity on the Internet.
· Assist the development of the Internet in developing countries to relieve
financial hardship and advance education.

To apply please complete their application form (request from Email:
enquiries at nominettrust.org.uk )

Please be clear on the level of funding required and whether this matches or is
expected to match other income sources. At this stage we will not consider
applications for core funding only or applications for hardware only.

The board of trustees will consider applications in the next series of Board
meetings over the next few months. We will let you know which Board meeting your
application will be considered at dependent on the number of applications
received. The trustees reserve the right to request more information. All
decisions to award grants will be made by the Board of Trustees, and its
decisions are final and absolute. You can expect to be informed on the decision
in writing as soon as possible.
