28 October 2009

This is a one-off newsflash to announce the launch of the Women's Cafe, a new
online community for women working in the women's voluntary and community
sector.

------------------------------------------------------------
Networking women's organisations online
------------------------------------------------------------

Come join the women's sector on the Women's Cafe!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have recently launched an online network for women working in the women's
voluntary and community sector. So if you're working in a women's project
(staff, volunteer or trustee) come and join us!

There are already over 150 women signed up and they are using the network to:
* Find other women interested in similar issues
* Provide each other with information, advice and support on campaigning,
research and other topics
* Co-ordinate campaigns and working groups with other women across the country
* Share their experiences, expertise and best practice examples

Want to find out more before signing up? We've put together a Step by Step guide
to the Women's Cafe ( http://wrcnews.org.uk/4DW-2C3V-BQJVL-1CXQ0-0/c.aspx )
(PDF). Or just go to the Women's Cafe (
http://wrcnews.org.uk/4DW-2C3V-BQJVL-1CXPZ-0/c.aspx ) and sign up!*

(*to make sure the network stays relevant and safe, all members will need to be
approved by us before joining. You must currently be working in or volunteering
with a women's organisation. See the guide (link above) for more details, or
contact us if you're not sure.)

What people are saying about the Women's Cafe
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------
"I am very excited about the Women's Café! What a great way to network! Thank
you for the opportunity! Hopefully we will have more women joining the DV group
to start sharing information. I have been spreading the word to my contacts!"

"Looks good to me! I'm not very facebooky but this looks like an interesting
idea for the women's sector."

"Excellent idea to have this site...soooo needed!"

"This is way too much fun to be work."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------
And one more bit of good news...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------
WRC membership is now FREE for small women's organisations
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------
As of 1 November 2009, membership of the Women's Resource Centre will be free
for organisations with annual incomes under £100,000.

Earlier this year our members identified funding as the biggest challenge they
face and of those who did not renew their membership with WRC, 30% stated that
it was due to lack of funds. So we thought we'd do our bit to help out.
