New Name for Sports Forum

London's strategic body for disabled sports development, the
London Sports Forum for Disabled People
[http://www.londonsportsforum.org.uk/] (LSFDP), has announced it
is to be been renamed Interactive. The new name will be formally
launched on 6 April, along with a new website and logo that the
organisation believes will better reflect its strategic remit to
ensure disabled people are an integral part of all sports and
physical activity in London.

North London Teenagers Make a Difference

Students at secondary schools throughout Newham, Waltham Forest
and Hackney are being invited to enter a competition organised
by a local charity to celebrate Commonwealth Day on March 8th.
The Make A Difference competition has been launched by The
African Heritage and Educational Centre, based in Leyton, and
funded by London Councils.Young people aged 11-16 are being
invited to compose a report on the topic: How Science and
Technology can be used to enhance African Development. Reports
can be in any format, and any length.In fact, the more creative

Access to Volunteering - Grant Funding Available

The first round of Access to Volunteering grants have been
announced.

Access to Volunteering aims to increase the number of disabled
people volunteering by providing grants to supporting
organisations. Money is provided by the Office of the Third
Sector with funds being offered in three test areas - Greater
London, North West and West Midlands. The first round of funding
successfully awarded grants to up to £5,000 to 40 organisations.

Events

Common Assessment Framework event The Mobility and Young London
Board and the pan-London Integrated Working Network are running
a training seminar on the Common Assessment Framework (CAF)
protocol on 29-30 March in London.

The event, aimed at those working in the voluntary and community
sector who are likely to be involved with CAF, will address the
challenges of child mobility in London and how to improve the
way services respond to children and young people receiving
support in more than one borough.

Free training on Hate Crime and Restorative Justice!

On 12 April 2010 ROTA will be delivering training on the use of
restorative justice with hate crimes/incidents with a particular
focus on multi-agency partnerships.

The training builds on the findings and recommendations of the
Restoring Relationships Project. It draws attention to the
dynamics of hate crime, the role of mediation, and the value of
restorative justice and multi agency, cross sector partnerships.
