Please see below for some free training available to voluntary and community
organisations working with children and young people.

The venue is East London (Stratford, E15) but places are open to groups working
in any London location.

LECP usually charge for their courses (£90-£140 for a one-day programme) but
often offer free last-minute places, it is worth signing up to their Ning site

Event Description:
Practitioners working with young people can often face a lot of personal
pressures in their work. This can cause conflict and stress if they find that
their professional boundaries are being 'pushed'. This training is designed to
help practitioners identify, and apply practical solutions to these issues.

Course Content:
What are professional boundaries?
Why are they important/advantages of boundary setting?
Who sets the boundaries?
What are the consequences of boundary violation?

Course Aims:
Workshops and discussions using professional experience, case studies
To provide participants with an understanding of what professional boundaries
are and why they are needed. Explore power balance/imbalance, who negotiates the
boundaries and who is accountable should a violation occur.
Smart Boundaries, workshops begin with a self-evaluation and assessment of
practice styles and behaviours which may indicate potential liability risks.
Awareness of susceptibility by assessing personal and professional
vulnerabilities, general to the professional and specific to the individual,
which place him or her at risk for boundary violation

Suitable for:
Personal Advisers, Youth Workers, Learning Mentors, Community Workers, Social
Workers, Teachers, Play workers and other practitioners working in any capacity
with young people in the community, voluntary or statutory sectors

Cost:
£90 per person . Payment: Payment is required in full at least 14 days prior to
course commencement.
